Google Search Console Integration Guide

Connect Google Search Console (GSC) so Nuwtonic can import verified properties, power the Performance Dashboard, and unlock SEO Performance data such as clicks, impressions, CTR, and rankings.

If you only need a high-level walkthrough of the product, start with the User Guide.

1. What this integration does

With GSC connected, Nuwtonic can:

  • create or import a workspace from a verified Search Console property;
  • show Google Search performance for the workspace domain;
  • support ranking and opportunity workflows that depend on Search Console data;
  • keep SEO Performance screens useful instead of limited URL-only views.

Nuwtonic uses OAuth. You sign in with a Google account that already has access to the Search Console property. Nuwtonic does not ask you to paste API keys for GSC.

2. Before you start

Complete these checks first:

  1. You can sign in to Google Search Console.
  2. The website is already added as a property (domain property or URL-prefix property).
  3. The property is verified.
  4. The Google account you will authorize has at least Full user access on that property. Owner access also works.
  5. The property has some search data. Brand-new properties can take a few days before useful metrics appear.

Property types matter:

Property type Example Covers
Domain sc-domain:example.com All subdomains and protocols for the domain
URL-prefix https://www.example.com/ Only that exact protocol and host

Choose the property that matches how the site actually appears in Google Search.

3. Connect during workspace creation

This is the recommended path.

  1. Open Nuwtonic and go to Workspaces.
  2. Choose create or import with Google Search Console.
  3. Sign in with the Google account that owns or can access the property.
  4. Approve access when Google shows the consent screen.
  5. Select the verified property for the site you want to manage.
  6. Confirm and finish workspace creation.
  7. Wait for first-time setup to complete, then open the dashboard.

If authorization fails:

  • retry with the correct Google account;
  • confirm the property is verified in Search Console;
  • confirm the account still has access under Search Console → Settings → Users and permissions.

4. If you created a workspace from a URL

You can create a workspace from a website URL without GSC. Some performance screens stay limited until Search Console is connected.

To finish setup later:

  1. Open the workspace and use the GSC import or reconnect flow when offered.
  2. Authorize the correct Google account.
  3. Select the matching verified property.
  4. Confirm the connection and refresh the Performance Dashboard.

One Google Search Console account connection maps to your organization. Use an account that can see every property you need to manage.

5. Confirm the connection is working

After connect:

  1. Open the Performance Dashboard.
  2. Confirm clicks, impressions, or ranking widgets load for a recent date range.
  3. Open SEO Performance and confirm page or query data is available.
  4. If charts are empty, widen the date range and confirm the property has data in Search Console itself.

6. Troubleshooting

No properties appear after Google sign-in

  • Sign in with the Google account that was invited to the property.
  • In Search Console, open Settings → Users and permissions and confirm access.
  • Verify the property again if ownership recently changed.

Dashboard stays empty

  • Confirm the workspace is linked to the correct property.
  • Confirm Search Console shows data for the same date range.
  • Wait if the property was verified recently.
  • Reconnect GSC if the workspace was created from URL only.

Wrong site or subdomain data

  • Reconnect and choose the domain property if you need all host variants.
  • Or choose the exact URL-prefix property that matches the canonical site.

Authorization revoked or expired

  • Re-run the Google authorization flow from Nuwtonic.
  • Do not revoke Nuwtonic access in Google Account permissions unless you intend to disconnect.

7. Security notes

  • Prefer a shared agency or owner account that already has Search Console access, instead of sharing personal passwords.
  • Revoke access from Google Account permissions if you leave the organization or stop using Nuwtonic.
  • Nuwtonic uses the connection to read Search Console data for the selected properties. Keep workspace membership limited to people who should see that data.

8. Next steps

  1. Finish workspace setup modules and seed keyword.
  2. Connect a CMS if you want to publish content or push SEO fixes: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Ghost, or Webhooks.
  3. Continue with the User Guide for audits, content, and campaigns.
